Mindfulness

BECAUSE “TO HEAL” LITERALLY MEANS “TO MAKE WHOLE”

Mindfulness is the capacity to be present for this life - to be with the fullness of the human experience, with all its pleasure and pain, gain and loss, love and heartache.

Mindfulness is the gateway through which we can truly experience our life and everything it means to be in this human condition.

It is through mindfulness that we come fully and wholly into ourselves and our experience.

It is in Wholeness that we are at ease, and it is in fragmentation that all suffering lives. Such fragmentation occurs because the totality was too much; too overwhelming, too painful, too threatening. Disconnection from that which is too much protects us. And it divides us.

In this way, all mental and emotional issues are ultimately issues of fragmentation; symptoms of disconnection from the totality of our being and from our capacity to be present with our experience.

Since a partial view of our experience is what created the suffering, healing is not found in simply adopting another view; that’s just another set of partial beliefs, another frame that will block some other aspect of our experience, another box we will eventually grow out of. Instead of building bigger, fancier boxes, we need to develop the antidote to all our partial views of ourselves and reality; we need the capacity to be present with our experience as it is.

We need to be Whole.
